    I can never let my wife see this! :-P I am awed by the range of vintage niche specialist (an unfortunately legacy tools) I see in your videos from the types of planes to the 'yankee' screwdriver. My dad had one and a stanley plane, nothing near the workshop or range of tools you have but a humble garage I have many fond memories of making and breaking things in. I have an affinity for hand tools as they so effortlessly demonstrate the fact that its not the tool thats most important but the craftsmanship of the one wielding it, if you spend any time using any handtools you get a healthy respect for the craft involved and a deeper appreciation of what craftsmanship really means. I am simply mesmerized by the level of master craftsmanship displayed in every video, I hope to be watching them for years to come and that you have some apprentice or other who you are passing this incredible knowledge and experience on to.

    Awesome work as usual, love your videos, I have seen them all. When you are doing your mortises is there a reason you don't use a drill to remove the majority of the material then the chisel to clean it up? I find it to be much faster.

    • @EpicUpCycling
      @EpicUpCycling День тому

      Thanks very much. I often drill mortices out if i'm using hardwood, or really tight grained softwood, but with poor quality softwoods I find I get a better finish if I carefully chisel them out. I get a lot less tear-out in the sides of the mortice.

I don't think there isn't a pirate, including me, who wouldn't want this chest. Only someone who TRULY EMBRACES & LOVES woodworking can do things like this. I'd even go as far as saying even good workers wouldn't, and couldn't pull this off ( the carving ) without resorting to using power tools. I've only ever seen Japanese woodworkers do stuff like this, one must "become the wood" so to speak.

    i learned quickly in my woodworking shop that, scraps are seldom wasted wood, as you go to the hardware store \mill to buy lumber,,, 1''x12'' by 8-16' in length, fight carrying and transporting back to the shop to only turn around and rip \ cross cut in to project size pieces,,, hhhhmmmm🤔🤔🤔🤔 wait a Minuit,,, i quickly realized that most projects are made up a bunch of small pieces , even large items like cabinets, tables, shelves ect, so why am i buying in 8=16' lengths and fighting too transport them and do i have enough left over off cuts from previous projects?🤔 in most cases the answer was yes, so i rarely had pieces left that were scrap,,, then word got around to local contractors that i often used scraps too build my projects ,as most contractors do not bother saving their off cuts, boards flooring trim work that they would toss as the clients pay for full boards and most ethical contractors wont use off cuts from a different job ,,yet they hated tossing out good left overs,, word got around that i would except what they had to get rid of rather then the paying to land fill it ,week after week the local contractors would detour too my shop and leave me piles of off cuts, even good cabinet ply's as well , old beams that they had replaced ect,even a local sawmill\hardware supplier, got in on it, they would clean out their trim racks 2=3 times a year ,deliver it all to me ,,, curved twisted , dented split stained defected boards, defects were less then 10% on each piece by the truck load so they could restock their racks a new ( it was put too a burn pile previously ),their guys would pass it up too the loft and stick stack it for me too(friday afternoon job) , i would go through using what i could out of each board and let the owner know how much board feet i reclaimed , at a 25% value cost ( beer money for the boys ) did that for 4 years till they shut down because of fire, and yes i got what they salvaged after the fire free,as it was stored in a adjacent building and not effected , clients would often say my prices were cheaper then most,,, but then again so was my material cost , i would often pre glue up thin strips into panels of similar length pieces at the end of a week that i later used in projects (some clients loved the strip on strip look ,)while one liked knots the more the better, some days whole trailer loads of large yard trees would show up ,loved the different species i would get , portable miller would come to the shop and we would split the bounty 50\50 , amazing project koodus

    Quality piece of woodcrafting. I like details that go into it along with the thinking of it and unlike other woodcrafting channels they come across as just looking to smash out videos. When you do a video it's more about sharing the craft and doing the craft of the item. Keep the good work going.
